Challenge: Orkan faced rising demand for a more digital and convenient authentication experience. Customers wanted to move away from physical dongles and plastic cards toward a mobile, wallet-based solution they could carry on their phones. The existing setup—tied to plastic cards and dongles—also limited the ability to run streamlined marketing campaigns and to unify loyalty across in-store and fuel-pump interactions. Additionally, integrating loyalty and gift-card capabilities with the Tokheim pump ecosystem presented a technical and operational challenge that needed a cohesive, scalable solution.

Solution: By adopting Passcreator Retail Suite, Orkan significantly modernized its loyalty and gift card programs. The rollout enabled electronic wallet passes for customer cards, loyalty cards, and gift cards, replacing the old physical-only approach. The solution also opened the door for a promotional campaign around the introduction of gift cards for products such as washer fluids and related services, all delivered through a unified wallet experience. The Retail Suite provided the necessary backend and integration capabilities to connect wallet passes with in-store transactions and the Tokheim pump system.

Implementation: Orkan transitioned from the legacy plastic cards and dongles to digital Wallet passes via Passcreator, delivering a seamless customer journey across retail and fueling locations. A key aspect of the implementation was the integration with Tokheim pump software to ensure wallet-based authentication and redemption aligned with pump transactions. The program supported issuing and renewing customer, loyalty, and gift cards directly through the Passcreator environment, enabling real-time balance updates and instant wallet delivery to customers’ devices. The multi-channel approach also set the stage for future campaigns and product-specific gift cards, expanding loyalty touchpoints beyond the store aisles.

Outcome: Customers can now obtain and carry a digital customer card, loyalty card, and gift cards directly on their phones, simplifying access and use. The shift to electronic wallet passes enhanced convenience for both B2C and B2B interactions, strengthened loyalty engagement, and improved cross-channel consistency between in-store purchases and fuel transactions. The integrated solution with Tokheim supports a scalable path for ongoing loyalty innovations and card-based promotions across Orkan’s network of stations.
